Welcome!

Welcome to the Journal of the Association of Mexican American Educators.  Under the leadership of the Executive Board, the Association of Mexican American Education (AMAE) publishes the AMAE Journal on an annual basis. The AMAE Journal was first published in 1982 with the expressed purpose of providing a forum for addressing issues of importance to the education of Mexican American children.  Indeed, currently, there is no other journal, at the national or state level, that focuses specifically on the issues that affect the education of Mexican American children.  This fact makes the mission of the AMAE Journal all the more important, since Mexican American children are the majority student population in many California school districts

Conducting research on the education of Mexican American students takes great energy and commitment, and is particularly challenging considering the limited research in the field and the often-limited collegial support.  Clearly, scholarly work focusing on the education of Mexican American children is critical and welcomes the support of higher education faculty and other researchers.  Scholars conducting research on the education of Mexican American students need the opportunity to share their efforts and ideas with a professional populace that is concerned with these issues.  The AMAE Journal provides an arena for this important interaction to take place.
