SCOPE: The Association of Mexican-American Educators Journal (AMAE) was developed with the expressed purpose of providing a forum for addressing research and academic issues of importance to the education of Mexican-American/Latino children and families to help inform researchers and academics in higher education. In addition, we hope to inform other stakeholders such as administrators, policy-makers and civic leaders. In this way, the AMAE Journal is organized and focused to make an immediate impact at different educational levels to inform different constituencies from academia to policy makers on the conditions of Mexican-American/Latino students and their families.

It is important to note that Mexican-American/Latino children are the fastest growing population and majority student population in many school districts across the nation. It is imperative to understand the needs, challenges and strengths of Mexican-American/Latino youth and their families to understand and improve their educational conditions and attainment.

All research topics related to the education of Mexican-American/Latino studies are welcome. These include topics related to immigration and education, achievement gap, bilingual education, parent engagement, ESL/ELD education, equity and social justice, critical theories (i.e. CRT, Critical pedagogy), literacy and content area instruction, curriculum and instruction, policy, teacher education, the sociology of education among other. If you have any questions about a specific manuscript you may contact the editors to inquire about the suitability of your manuscript.

PUBLISHING: The AMAE Journal is a national refereed, peer-reviewed journal. A distinguished editorial advisory board is established tp provide counsel to the AMAE Journal editors (see AMAE Journal editorial advisory board). Starting in 2012 the AMAE journal will be published biannually. It will publish one important and timely theme issue (see call for papers) and one open issue per year. Each issue aspires to contain (1) Featured Articles (2) An Essay (3) A Book Review and (4) A Poem. The AMAE Journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. It is also indexed in the Educational Resources Information Clearinghouse (ERIC) database.
